Season Five Airs Spring 2024! Click here to find streaming options.
Festival Mozaic's Music Director Scott Yoo is also a renowned violinist, conductor of the Mexico City Philharmonic, and conductor and festival artist of the Summer Music Festival at Colorado College. On top of all this, Scott is also the host of the acclaimed PBS series: Now Hear This.
The PBS miniseries presented by Great Performances merges music, storytelling, travel and culture, as Scott chases the secret histories of some of the greatest music ever written. The PBS crew has been to San Luis Obispo three times: once to film scenes for the season two episode titled "Becoming Mozart" featuring pianist Stewart Goodyear, again in July 2021 to film the episode entitled "Amy Beach: American Romantic," and most recently in July 2023 to film an episode following Scott Yoo as a composer entitled "The Composer is Yoo."
The most recent episode featuring Festival Mozaic follows Scott Yoo as he seeks inspiration to composer his own Piano Quartet, opus 1. Artists and rehearsals from the July 2023 Summer Music Festival are featured in the episode, as Scott and the musicians play through different drafts of his own piece of music. He also travels to Japan and visits with other composers to guide his process.
