Kathryn Summersett
SopranoKathryn Summersett, Doctor of Music, is located in the rustic area of Upper Michigan, where she works as a vocalist, private voice instructor, and music teacher at both Finlandia University and Lake Linden-Hubbell Public Schools. She earned her Doctor of Music in Historical Performance from Indiana University, her MM from University of North Texas, and her BM from University of Massachusetts. In 2013, she also became a certified McClosky voice technician, where she teaches technique in both singing and speaking as well as movement and posture.
As a professional singer, with a passion for music history, Kathryn actively enjoys performing a wide variety of genres including, but not limited to, medieval chant, renaissance lute songs, baroque and classical opera, romantic art songs, early 20th century jazz, and modern pop.
As a creative, she also enjoys exploring additional genres of artistic performance. In 2020, Kathryn and her sister Jane, a former professional ice dance competitor, started @thecontentmillennial, a collaboration of new music composition and dance movement. Mainly focused in the Great Lakes Region, they seek to utilize the natural outdoor elements as their stage.
